Degree-seeking Students

Open to qualified applicants with an earned bachelor's degree, GPA of 3.0 or better, from an accredited institution, in engineering or a closely related field in mathematics, computer science, or the physical sciences that includes courses in mathematics through Differential Equations (which includes pre-requisites of Calculus I, II, and III).

A completed graduate admission application, copy of college transcripts and three recommendation letters are required (applicants to the online Graduate Certificate in Engineering program with a gpa > 3.0 do not need to submit letters of recommendation).

Provisional Admission

Applicants with an undergraduate GPA of less than 3.0 may be admitted on a provisional basis if they have demonstrated satisfactory performance in another graduate program and/or salutary work experience.

International Students

Applicants with foreign credentials must submit academic records in the original language with literal English translations. Allow at least three months for evaluation.  TOFEL scores are also required for all international applicants.

Transfer of Credits

Six graduate-level credits earned at an accredited institution prior to or after matriculation in the Graduate School may be applied toward the Master's degree.

  • Students accepted into the ENPM program and who have matriculated at Maryland in another graduate-level engineering program, may be entitled to include a number of those credits pending a determination by the ENPM program director.
